Insurance policy


At Agence Ottawa-Kin, we understand that your parcels are valuable. Even though we handle them with the utmost care, incidents can sometimes occur during transport. That’s why we offer tailored insurance to protect your shipments.

Our coverage

Agence Ottawa-Kin offers optional insurance to protect your shipments against loss or damage during transport. Coverage applies from the moment the parcel is picked up or dropped off, and continues throughout transit until delivery to the intended recipient. You may relay on the basic coverage included by default or purchase additional insurance to cover the declared value of your parcel.

Coverage and limits


Basic coverage (default)

Our basic coverage includes compensation of up to CAD $300 or USD $300, depending on the country of origin. It also includes reimbursement or coverage of shipping and reshipping fees, if applicable.

Optional declared-value insurance

Our optional insurance allows you to cover the declared value of the parcel in case of loss or damage. The terms (maximum coverage, premium, and any deductible) are determined at the time of pickup or drop-off.

Coverage period

Coverage begins when the parcel is picked up or dropped off and ends once it is successfully delivered to the intended recipient. Parcels that are delivered but not received by the recipient are not covered.

Exclusions

    Our insurance does not cover the following events or items:
  • damage caused by the contents themselves, such as leakage or product reactions
  • damage resulting from insufficient or inappropriate packaging
  • intentional damage caused by the client
  • normal wear and tear, loss of weight or volume
  • perishable goods or items requiring temperature control
  • items prohibited or restricted for export/import
  • any item not eligible under our policy

Claims

In the event of loss or damage, contact us immediately to open a claim file. You will receive an initial update within approximately 5 business days, depending on the complexity of the case.

Required documentation

    To process your claim, please provide the following documents as applicable:
  • photos or videos showing the damage and the packaging
  • invoices or proof of purchase for lost or damaged items
  • the form provided by us at pickup or drop-off
  • any other relevant document supporting the claim
  • Claims cannot be processed without all required documentation.

Our commitment

Agence Ottawa-Kin conducts investigations diligently and provides compensation in accordance with our policies. Liability is subject to the conditions and exclusions outlined above.
